About Wolf Creek Golf Club:
There is really no salutation, when it comes to Wolf Creek other
than what it has to offer. When you think of a “must play” for
a golf trip to Las Vegas, Wolf Creek needs to be on your list.
With dramatic elevation changes and some of the best views you
will ever see on a golf course, the Wolf Creek experience is
nothing less than magnificent. Ranked in 2005 by Golf Digest
as 27th out of the "Top 100 Greatest Public Courses" also ranked
third in Golf Digest’s “America’s
Best New Courses”, “The Most Spectacular New Golf
Course in America” by Affluent Golfer, and the USGA ranked
Wolf Creek the 3rd most difficult course in America just to name
a few; Wolf Creek is a course that you will remember for the rest
of your life. Just put it this way, give the camera to the rider,
he/she will have a great time being a photographer. Located only
about 80 miles from the Las Vegas Strip in Mesquite, NV the trip
is more
than
worth
it.
Once you step out of your car, you will see what you are up against.
The unparalleled views, the walls of mountainous terrain, the forced
carries, the glistening lakes, and the plush green grass is enough
substance to put you in a daze. This “one-of-a-kind”
experience is something that will be in the record books for a long
time. Twisting and turning throughout the desert landscaping, Wolf
Creek is a course that you might want to load up on some used balls
before playing. Even the most skilled of golfers seem to have trouble
with the unique and complicated layout. The course features many
forced carries to split fairways, offering golfers different options
from the tee boxes. Speaking of the tee boxes, if you have altitude
sickness you might want to bring some Dramamine. Standing on a small
patch of grass, sometimes 11 stories above the fairway, staring
off into the wilderness of it is surroundings; it is easy to forget
that you have to hit a drive with a 200 yard carry over a lake to
a tight fairway. Once you come back to your senses, the drive must
be perfectly placed or you will be looking at a bogie or worse.
Look at our pictures of the course; you will see what we mean. There
are 5 different tee boxes for all skill levels ranging in length
from 4,169 to 7,018 yards, but Wolf Creek is a challenge to say
the least. Even the best players will have to bring their “A”
game the entire day to post a score worth putting in the GHIN system.
Wolf Creek is located roughly 1 hour from the Las Vegas strip,
but once again you will not be disappointed; the drive goes quick
and it is more than worth it. With all of its rankings, that many
people can not be wrong. With a complete practice facility including
a driving range and short game area with a putting green, chipping
green, and sand traps to get warmed up before one of your most
impressive days on the links. Wolf Creek has thought of everything.
Along with a full service
bar and restaurant, there is also a halfway house located conveniently
between the 5th and 14th holes. With immaculate Bentgrass greens
and Rye grass fairways (topped with Bermuda during over-seed),
you will feel like you are on tour. With multi-tier greens, you
can expect tricky to severe breaks. Bring you camera and your “A” game
and enjoy one of the most memorable days of golf you will ever
have.
