About TPC Las Vegas (Formerly TPC Canyons):
Have you ever though to yourself what it would be like to play one
of the same courses the pros play to see what you would shoot. Hey
maybe you can quit your day job and play for the big bucks. Well
that is an option at the Tournament Players Club Las Vegas. This
desert course has hosted various PGA Tour and Champions Tour events
over the past decade and is known as the "Home of Professional
Golf" in Las Vegas. Constructed in 1996, by Robert C. ‘Bobby”
Weed Jr., who began playing golf at the age ten, worked under the
legendary Pete and Alice Dye at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
In 1982 he was promoted to the superintendent at the Dye built TPC
Sawgrass, and by 1987 was named the chief designer for PGA TOUR
Design Services. Bobby Weed has collaborated with a number of PGA
players in creating top-level courses such as Raymond Floyd, Jack
Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Chi Chi Rodriguez just to name a few.
What a lucky guy.
The TPC Las Vegas tests golfers from the first tee through
the 18th and as you think it would let up at the bar, you then
have to add up your scorecard. Beautifully cut out of the winding
mountainous terrain, this par 71, 7,063-yard Canyons course is
a tough layout, but a “must play” if you are a golf
fanatic. Being a TPC course, you can only expect the best. From
the bag
drop to the cart return, you will be taken care of as if you were
on the tour, not sure what tour but you know what we mean.
The course features lengthy narrow fairways that do not allow much
room for inaccuracy along with most holes requiring compulsory carries
over arroyos and gullies to remind you that you are playing golf
in the desert. With its undulated fairways, uneven lies are not
uncommon. Even with the best of drives right down the pipe, you
will find your 2nd shot to be on a hill side where making the correction
in your swing is a must.
Along with an exceptional course, you will experience top notch
service as you are greeted immediately by one of the forecaddies.
Their goal is to provide you and your guests with a true golfing
experience. With extensive training and expert knowledge, the forecaddies
will provide you with the services needed to make your round a memorable
one for an additional gratuity of $25 per golfer. This is given
as a discretionary tip in cash to the forecaddie upon the completion
of the round.
Your forecaddie will familiarize you with the location of our pro
shop, practice range, food and beverage facilities, and locker rooms.
Club selection assistance, hole specific strategy as well as insight
on effective ways to play each shot are provided on the course.
Each forecaddie is equipped with a Bushnell yardage finder to give
you the exact distance from your ball to the target. Bunkers, ball
marks, divots and your equipment will all be maintained, enabling
you to focus on nothing more than enjoying your round of golf.
The greens, oh the greens. These perfectly cut Bentgrass greens
are not what the average golfer is used to seeing. Sometimes you
feel like you should to take your shoes off before walking on them,
like carpet that has just been steam cleaned. Once you finally
grab your putter, you still have some work left. These greens are
lightening quick and have breaks that only tour players can read.
For golfers that are looking to get the most out of their playing
experience, the Tournament
Players Club Las Vegas is the place for you. Bring home some
memorabilia from the golf shop to let your buddies back home know
that you played one of the best; you might want to keep your scorecard
in your bag.
TPC Las Vegas is located 15-20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.
With the rock framed fairways, beautifully manicured Bermuda
fairways, and bentgrass greens playing TPC Las Vegas next time you
are here is mandatory. Whether you have a large group or
it is just you and some associates, TPC Las Vegas will not let you
down. The service is impeccable and the course is breathtaking
from every
tee box. If you are able to play the course in late October or
the first week of
November, you will be glad you did. In preparation for the Michelin
Championship at Las Vegas, the rough will be long and thick, and
the greens will be even quicker than normal, so you can really
test
your game
and
then watch the event on TV the following week. It is always makes
watching an event on TV more exciting when you have actually played
the course, especially with the same conditions. Come out and test
your game at the Tournament Players Club Las Vegas, it is
well
worth
it.
