Paiute - Snow Course Golf
Course Review by M. Moore on August 3rd, 2009:
This place was a little bit of a drive, but once you get out here
you are literally out in the middle of the desert and the course/facility
was worth it. I can only imagine what a cab would have cost….You
might want to only play here if you have your own vehicle or if
the hotel comps your limo.
The clubhouse is huge and has a revolving door like you would
see at one of the major hotels. The ceilings are like 3 stories
high and the bar/restaurant has a huge window that looks through
the golf course and into the mountains. Talk about a golf shop,
that place has everything. They do not hold back. You can get everything
from a ball marker, to shoes, to a martini shaker with a Paute logo.
The course was as green as green gets. They are built on the Paiute
Indian Reservation so the city does not give them any water restrictions.
In the middle of August during a drought, I saw a maintenance worker
cleaning the ground with a hose….like I used to do before
there was such a thing as a water shortage. The fairways were actually
a little wet in areas as they probably want to make sure the course
stays green and plush with the high temps. The greens were nhearly
perfect and held my Pro V1; unless it was coming in hot, then I
found myself on the back edge or just over the green. The cool thing
about Paiute is that there aren’t any houses in sight. You
can really get bit by a rattlesnake out there if you aren’t
careful while looking for your ball in the rocks. Oh wait…I
was never in the rocks...so how would I know.
Anyways, thanks for the recommendation guys. I want to try Wolf
next time.
