Anthem Country
Club Review by C Kerr on July 14th, 2009:
Like the guys at VIPGS said, if you didn’t get a chance to
play DragonRidge or if that was one of your favorite courses, then
Anthem will be a great substitute. I thought I had already played
it after playing Revere at Anthem, the Lexington Course. I found
out that Revere dropped the word Anthem from its name, because of
the confusion. There is a completely separate five star high end
community with a private Country Club called Anthem. So I took their
recommendation.
You had to drive up to an armed guarded gate and let them know
you are playing golf. They are very serious and will not let anyone
by without a pass. Our name was on the golf list so we went right
in. Mansions…..that is all I can say. I can only imagine the
kind of money it takes to live out here. The good thing about it,
I am basically a member for the day.
The driving range faces the strip, so as I was hitting balls in
the morning every time I looked up to see my shot I was looking
right at the strip. Pretty cool! The entire practice facility is
setup for the members with a practice green, bunkers, and all of
the practice balls you need.
The course is cut out of the canyons with many elevation changes
throughout. The rough was as thick as US open rough which made my
longer shots a little more difficult. The course though is great.
The layout is fun, the views are all picture worthy, and there are
many tee boxes to choose from. I was with my wife so she played
the forward tees. I played the players tee, actually called the
Members Choice. These tees are located at the spots on every hole
that the members prefer to play from. It made me feel like I had
a little bit of their help the entire day.
The clubhouse was really nice and it had an outside wrap around
balcony that faces the strip as well….great views. I hope
I can play it again next year! What a great recommendation.
